Let it Grow: Success From The Ground Up

As a busy mom and business owner, I have a hard time shutting my brain down at the end of the day. I always have a long to do list and I work very hard. I get such an adrenaline rush from the excitement of what I do every day. I love checking things off my to do list and creating plans. One of the things I do before bed is pick one item to seed and one to weed.

What does that mean?

Pulling weeds.  These tasks are the things we don’t want to do, like pulling weeds from your garden.  We often don’t want to do them, but the sooner we do, the more space there is for play and for planting seeds.  And once it’s done you don’t have to think about it again.

Planting Seeds. This is a small action with growth potential.  If you plant seeds they will blossom.  The more you plant the more you grow.  Did you know that 1 raspberry has 100-200 seeds?  A raspberry can be a metaphor for a goal that consists of hundreds of seeds.  Continue to plant seeds daily and it will come back to you in abundance.

“Little acorns lead to mighty oaks.” Nature, like business, needs nurturing and consistent efforts to thrive. If you’re building a side hustle into a full-time passion while life is happening, the number of things that will have to get done to make your dream come true can feel overwhelming.

The good news is you don’t have to do it all at once. You can make consistent strides forward pulling weeds and planting seeds. You can tend to the garden that is your business consistently, in small ways, and watch it grow. You can also ask for help.

That’s a lesson I had to learn: it’s okay to ask for help. With time, I’ve accepted that when my lists are too long, my patience too thin, or tasks are outside of my expertise that it’s more than ok to ask for help. It’s necessary.

I know where my passions are and how I want to spend my  time. I know where my strengths and experience will serve me and others best and I know the kinds of tasks that fire me up and those that beat me down.

In business I have a great designer because making anything look highly designed is far outside of my zone of genius. I have a virtual assistant that makes magic happen because I don’t have any desire to fiddle with settings or to understand finer technical details.

It’s not that I can’t do these things myself, it’s just not how I choose to spend my time. Chances are if you’re a busy business owner there are things you would rather not do, or that doing personally costs you opportunities for more lucrative work or even more joy.

I integrate the pieces of a thriving business and help it grow. I plant seeds and pull weeds for my clients every day so they can focus on whatever lights them up. If you’re ready to take the next step in your business and outsource your operations, book a free consultation with me today.
